We’ve all been there: staring at a fridge overflowing with Thanksgiving leftovers. But this year, that abundance sparked something transformative for our family—the Wilkerson, Washington, Jordan, Tinker, and Huni families.
Instead of just storing the mountains of food, we asked a simple question: "Why not share this?"
The day after Thanksgiving, we gathered our collective leftovers, bought hundreds of to-go containers, and headed out. We were able to serve a significant number of our unhoused neighbors in North Texas a full, warm, home-cooked meal. The gratitude we witnessed was immediate and deeply moving.
Later, while cleaning up, one family member voiced a thought we were all feeling: "I wish we could do this more often."
That wish became our mission. We realized that, united by our family of 15, we could commit to more than a one-time gesture. We could provide a consistent lifeline of dignity and nourishment.
That’s how The W.W.J.T.H. Family Outreach was officially born.
Our mission is now our driving force: To consistently deliver hot, home-cooked meals, essential resources, and compassionate support to our unhoused neighbors in McKinney, Texas, fostering dignity and community connection throughout the year.
We are committed to going out once a month to serve a hot meal to approximately 100 people. As the cold weather hits McKinney, our first priority is ensuring our neighbors have the resources to stay safe and warm.
To launch our first few months of service and build a substantial stock of winter supplies, we are looking to raise $3,000+.
